Lauren Cope is queer photographer based in York. Through their practice, they explore their identity, place within spaces, and society's pressures and views on them. The way they are perceived by society is a major aspect of their work. Creative expression is a way for them to process the world around them and express themselves externally. The performative nature of their work allows them to play around with their gender fluidity. They are primarily interested in self-portraiture because it allows them to play with these big ideas in a playful way and gives them the ultimate freedom when it comes to self-expression.
